Global Classrooms Now

Gender Equality, Human Rights, Environment, Global Economics, Global Organizations, Cultural Awareness

This Global Classroom Initiative provides a multi-grade, integrated framework of lessons and activities that range from Grade 5 to 9 and leads to the cultivation of globally committed citizens.

Using the key development themes of gender equality, human rights, environment, global economics, global organizations (UN), and cultural awareness, a team of educators from Vancouver Island (British Columbia) have developed a series of progressive and transformative resources that integrate Global Studies primarily through the English, Science, Social Studies, and Fine Arts programs as articulated by the BC government.

Over the range of five grades, this resource builds and strengthens awareness, understanding, and participation by acknowledging the potential and importance of young children as mindful, thoughtful, and active members of our local and global communities.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.-- Margaret Mead
